Climate change downgraded from a 'the' to an 'a'

Kevin Rudd claims he’s still a global warming crusader, but note how a crucial “the” has been downgraded into an “a”. In 2008: The biggest challenge the world faces in the decades ahead is climate change.  It is the great moral and economic challenge of our time. Now: It’s very clear cut that whether climate change is topical or not, whether it is popular or not, the reality of it does not disappear.
