Paul Murray on the northern Australia land use report - Dam lies and statistics

Another excellent opinion piece from Paul Murray writing in The West Australian:

The best way not to find water is not to go looking for it. Which, curiously enough, is exactly what the Rudd Government's Northern Australia Land and Water Taskforce managed to do in its 17 months of existence.

The task force's final report released this week has been widely interpreted in the media as ending the dream of the north becoming an internationally important agricultural region on the rationale there just isn't enough available water.

That shouldn't be the case because any close examination of the report exposes it as a sham, dripping with green and indigenous politics and with a questionable scientific basis.
